A working city: I choose you, BRISTOL (The FINAL entry)

The job search has decided it all. Certainly traveling to all these cities has been an adventure in itself. I now know where I would prefer to live in the United Kingdom, even if I cannot settle there anytime soon and likely never will. However, my job is really only available in three main hubs: the greater London commuter area, Manchester, and Bristol. Since the first two are still not under consideration, I will be making Bristol home as originally planned.

Having my final destination decided is a sincere relief. Mainly, I never went to Bath or Stonehenge, presuming that I would return to Bristol at the end of my trip. With respect to my feelings about Bristol, they are of course quite mixed. Scotland could not compare to the indoor bowling culture of Bristol, outdoor bowling they have in plenty. Bowling is an important weekly part of my life and I would like to keep it that way, especially after spending the past year without it. Scotland also does not enjoy the public street art seen all over England, especially in Bristol. Contrast those successes with the unresolved search for a neighborhood in Bristol. That is extremely unsettling. I will just have to be content to live in a city where I know there is work. Having the opposite problem in Glasgow would be far more problematic.

Post script: This will be my final blog entry. The buses do seem to be the preferred travel method for people in my position. Nevertheless, the bus seats are simply not large enough to support writing on the computer. As I mentioned before, if it does not happen here, it cannot happen anywhere. So, thank you for reading and please post your comments below.
